For Clothing Our Kids (COK), the major fundraiser is the annual Golf Outing. Now in its sixth year, the Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday October 7 at The Peninsula Golf & Country Club in Millsboro. Last year’s Golf Outing set a record in raising funds for the elementary school kids of Sussex County. Our objective this year is to serve more children by setting yet another record. Please save the date and additional information, including a Sponsorship and Registration Form, will be forthcoming.
The theme for the COK2019 Golf Outing is “Up, Up and Away” raising the event to a new level in support of our neighborhood kids. Like balloons, we want to help these children soar in school.
COK is a 501(c)3 organization whose Mission is to improve the lives of at-risk elementary school children by providing them with appropriate school clothing. In Sussex County, 24% of children do not have essential school clothing which has a direct negative impact on them, and can lead to bullying. It is COK’s goal to assist these youngsters with an equal start in their early education and help them become successful students. COK works with Assistant Principals, Nurses and Counselors at 34 schools across Sussex County and this year we’ve added children in Head Start Programs to our Mission.
To date, COK has provided nearly 93,000 items of school clothing to more than 16,000 kids. COK has no paid staff members with 100% of the work carried out by volunteers. In addition, 90% of all funds donated go directly to clothing the kids.
