How are clothes distributed?

Each request for clothing assistance comes to Clothing Our Kids through school nurses, counselors, or social workers. Typically the need is acute, therefore, in order to respond in a timely manner COK must plan ahead and have clothing of various sizes and gender ready for distribution. Typically the need is greatest at the beginning of the school year and as the seasons change. As our program has become more well known, it continues to expand throughout more schools in Sussex county, DE.

If someone knows of a family with elementary school children in need of coats, sweaters, shoes or clothing, they can receive them free of charge. A parent or guardian simply needs to contact the school nurse who will provide them with the information about each child. Some of the 150 volunteers will package and deliver the items to the school, usually within a day, or at the latest, after the weekend.
